Co-Responder Program

The City of Chamblee launched the Co-Responder Program in 2022 to better serve individuals in need of mental health support. A Co-Responder is a trained mental health care professional who responds alongside law enforcement. Co-Responders provide direct support in the field for those experiencing a mental health crisis and work to de-escalate tense situations.

Co-Responders also conduct case management after an interaction. They follow up with medical care providers and work to connect people with resources and additional care.

If you believe someone may be experiencing a mental health crisis or may benefit from on-scene support from the Co-Responder, call 9-1-1 and mention to the dispatcher that the Co-Responder may be needed.

Additional mental health crisis resources, including suicide counseling, is available at the 988 Georgia Suicide and Crisis Lifeline which can be reached by dialing 9-8-8.
