Drug-Free Workplace

Chamblee is a Drug-Free WorkplaceIn accordance with Georgia State Law O.C.G.A § 34-9-410, the City of Chamblee is committed to providing a drug-free workplace and has adopted a drug-free workplace policy.

Job applicants offered employment for certain positions will undergo testing for the presence of illegal drugs as a condition of employment. Any such applicant with a confirmed positive drug test result will be denied employment. Individuals who have failed a pre-employment drug test must wait a period of 6 months before re-applying for employment and if selected must submit again for a pre-employment drug test as a condition of employment. Individuals who have failed a pre-employment drug test and who are applying for positions in public safety may be disqualified from further consideration for such positions for longer periods of time or indefinitely.

It is a violation of City policy for any City employee to use, sell, distribute, purchase, possess, or make offers in relation to illegal substances. Violations are subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.
