Chamblee to Break Ground on Peachtree Road Streetscape and Rail Trail Extension

Ptree Rd Streetscape

Chamblee Mayor Eric Clarkson and the City Council invite the public to join them on Friday, April 26th at 10:00 a.m. for a ground-breaking ceremony to officially kick off the Peachtree Road Streetscape and Rail Trail Extension projects. The ceremony will take place near the intersection of McGaw Drive and Peachtree Road. Parking is available at the Peachtree Station (Whole Foods) parking lot located at 5001 Peachtree Blvd.

These projects will extend the Chamblee Rail Trail to Peachtree Road, where it will continue to McGaw Drive to the west and to Pierce Drive to the east along Peachtree Road. In addition, a full streetscape with sidewalks, street furniture, on-street parking and landscaping will be constructed along Peachtree Road from McGaw Drive to the bridge over Chamblee Dunwoody Road. Three-way stop intersections with enhanced pedestrian crosswalks will be added at Peachtree Road’s intersection with Malone Drive, Miller Drive, Pierce Drive, Chamblee Dunwoody Way and American Industrial Way.

The Mayor and City Council continue to implement these and other projects to create a more walkable, livable Chamblee for current and future residents, visitors and business owners. The project will be constructed in several phases and is expected to be completed during the next 12 months. The phasing plan includes: Phase 1: McGaw Drive to Chamblee Tucker Road; Phase 2: Chamblee Rail Trail Extension to Peachtree Road; Phase 3: Chamblee Tucker Road to Pierce Drive; and Phase 4: Pierce Drive to the bridge over Chamblee Dunwoody Road. Project representatives will be in constant communication with residents and business and property owners along the corridor to ensure minimal impacts to site access.

Please join us to kick off this transformational project as we continue to better connect the community using the City’s TSPLOST funds.
