The City of Chamblee has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement of Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR). This is the fifth year in a row the city has won this honor. The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of government accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
Chamblee Finance Director Travis Sims and Accounting Manager Cherron Bouie were responsible for preparing the award-winning CAFR. The CAFR was judged by an impartial panel to meet high standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.
“Winning this award is a testament to the dedication of our City to provide accurate information to the residents of Chamblee in a format that can be easily read and understood. It is our desire to provide as much transparency in government as we can,” Sims said.
The GFOA is a non-profit professional association whose mission is to advance excellence in state and local government financial management and serves more than 19,000 government finance professionals.
