- Does the City pickup construction debris such as lumber, tiles, counter tops, and concrete?
Yes, but these are considered special pickups. The charges are as follows:
$38 per ton $40 per hour $40 minimum
We will also drop off a truck to you. We do not charge for truck rental.
- I live outside of the Chamblee city limits. Can I bring my recycling to your facility?
Yes. On the third Saturday of each month, the Chamblee Public Works Department hosts Compost and Recycle Day from 8:00 a.m. until 12 noon. We accept aluminum cans, glass bottles, glass jars, #1and #2 plastics, beverage bottles, bi-metal cans, cereal boxes, newspapers, and magazines. We will not take cardboard boxes. We also have FREE compost. Bring your truck and load it yourself. If you are a Chamblee resident and want the compost delivered, the charge is $50. We are located at 3210 Cumberland Drive.
- What are your hours of operation?
We are open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. We are closed on Wednesdays. During holidays, we are open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., and Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 6:30 p.m.
- Do you have recycle bins?
Yes. Recycle bins are available with a deposit of $5. The following items can be put into the recycle bins: aluminum cans, glass bottles, glass jars, #1and #2 plastics, beverage bottles, bi-metal cans, cereal boxes, newspapers, and magazines.
Items we do not accept in recycle bins are: cardboard, phone books, plastic or brown paper bags of any kind, aluminum trays or pans, food boxes, and oil containers.
Recyclable materials are collected on the last pickup day of the week. In other words, if your trash days are Tuesday and Friday, your recyclables will be picked up on Friday.
- Why can’t we take leaves in bags?
Because the processor grinds them and the bags will jam the grinder.
- Why don’t we take office paper and cardboard?
The processor only takes what he makes money on, and we don’t pay the processor anything.
- Do you repair sidewalks and streets?
You can call us and we will either fix it or call the right people to get it done.
- Who handles water and sewer problems?
If you encounter water and sewer problems, you can either call us at 770-986-5019 or call DeKalb County Water and Sewer at 770-621-7200.
- Who handles road and drainage repairs?
DeKalb County handles roads and drainage repairs. Call them at 404-297-3840.
- Do you provide dumpster service?
We offer Chamblee businesses commercial 4-yard dumpster service. The monthly fees are as follows:
One pickup a week is $69.15 per month Two pickups a week is $86.15 per month Three pickups a week is $103.15 per month Four pickups a week is $120.15 per month Five pickups a week is $137.15 per month
