Public Works Frequently Asked Questions

  • Does the City pickup construction debris such as lumber, tiles, counter tops, and concrete?

Yes, but these are considered special pickups. The charges are as follows:

    $38 per ton
    $40 per hour
    $40 minimum

We will also drop off a truck to you. We do not charge for truck rental.

  • I live outside of the Chamblee city limits. Can I bring my recycling to your facility?

Yes. On the third Saturday of each month, the Chamblee Public Works Department hosts Compost and Recycle Day from 8:00 a.m. until 12 noon. We accept aluminum and bi-metal cans, glass bottles and jars, #1 through #7 plastics, cereal and food boxes, newspapers, magazines, phone books, cardboard, junk mail, office paper, milk jugs, and brown bags only. We also have FREE compost. Bring your truck and load it yourself. If you are a Chamblee resident and want the compost delivered, the charge is $50. We are located at 3210 Cumberland Drive.

  • What are your hours of operation?

We are open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. We are closed on Wednesdays. During holidays, we are open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., and Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 6:30 p.m.

  • Do you have recycle bins?

Yes. Recycle bins are available with a deposit of $5. The following items can be put into the recycle bins: aluminum and bi-metal cans, glass bottles and jars, #1 through #7 plastics, cereal and food boxes, newspapers, magazines, phone books, cardboard, junk mail, office paper, milk jugs, and brown bags only.

Items we do not accept in recycle bins are: plastic bags of any kind, aluminum trays or pans, and oil containers.

Recyclable materials are collected on the last pickup day of the week. In other words, if your trash days are Tuesday and Friday, your recyclables will be picked up on Friday.

  • Why can’t we take leaves in bags?
