Mission Statement for the Development Department

The Development Department's mission is to help guide citizens and developers through the processes of development established by the Mayor and City Council. The functions of the department include consultation on zoning and development regulations, administrative activities related to development, long-range community planning, economic prosperity, and neighborhood stability.  The Development Department also includes the permits and inspections functions of the City.  The mission of the Permits & Inspections Division is to insure quality construction and compliance with Building and Zoning Codes for the safety and protection of Chamblee’s residents and businesses. We will accomplish this through critical plan reviews, quality inspections, efficient processing of permits and professional interaction with contractors, developers, property owners, businesses and residents.
