Trash TruckGarbage is picked up at each residence twice a week. Residents are notified of a change in schedule due to holidays at the beginning of each calendar year and in the City of Chamblee's monthly calendar.

Garbage and Refuse Collection and Disposal Regulations

  • All garbage and refuse for collection by the Public Works Department shall be placed into plastic bags, which shall be tied or secured to prevent leakage or spillage.
  • Not more than 50 pounds in combined weight of a garbage bag and contents shall be permitted for each bag placed for collection by the Public Works Department.
  • Plastic garbage bags and containers shall be placed outside any fence or enclosure at the point nearest to, but not on, the public street or public sidewalk by 7:00 a.m. on the assigned date of collection. The Public Works Department will not pick up garbage or trash which has not been placed in specified areas. It shall be unlawful for any person to place garbage bags or containers at the specified collection location except within a 12-hour period before or after 7:00 a.m. on specified collection days.

Grass clippings, limbs, trash, leaves, etc.

  • Yard trimmings not being retained by the property owner for mulch may be placed at the street curb for collection. Yard waste may be placed or piled neatly at curbside for pick up.
  • Tree limbs, clippings, and trash of this category shall be cut by the property owner into lengths not more than four feet. All trash and cuttings shall be placed as near as possible to the street or sidewalk right-of-way adjacent to the property owner's property but not so as to get into the street or block the sidewalk. At no time shall trash be placed in the gutters, drains, walkways, alleys, or streets of the City.
  • It shall be unlawful to place or mix yard trimmings with garbage or leaves within the City.
  • Leaves are to be placed at curbside, but not in the street or on the sidewalk. Leaves will be collected by machines; leaves placed in bags will not be picked up by the City.
  • Grass, leaves and straw must be separated from shrubbery and tree cuttings when placed at curbside for pick up.
  • Construction debris shall not be mixed or commingled with yard trimmings.

Construction debris, trees, dirt, rock, concrete, over-sized tree limbs, and other large items are considered special pick ups. The charge for this service is $40.00 per hour (truck and crew included) and $38.00 per ton to dump. Tire disposal is $1.50 per tire. Call the Public Works Department to schedule a pickup.
