Development & Planning
The Development Department's mission is to help guide citizens and developers through the processes of development established by the Mayor and City Council. The functions of the department include consultation on zoning and development regulations, administrative activities related to development, long-range community planning, economic prosperity, and neighborhood stability.
The Development Department focuses on current planning matters, including the review of site plans, subdivision plats, zoning map amendments and text amendments to the zoning ordinance. Staff also serves the Mayor and City Council and the Architectural Review Board (ARB) for the City of Chamblee. The Mayor and City Council review variances, special uses, appeals of decisions and extensions of nonconforming uses; the ARB reviews all Developments of Community Impact (DCI) and advises the Mayor and Council on these developments. A DCI is any development greater than 50,000 square feet and not a single-family detached development.
Through our work, we aid in helping to protect Chamblee's economic, natural and historical resources.
The following documents are excerpts taken from the full City of Chamblee Code of Ordinances. They are listed here individually for convenience and simplicity.
