Chamblee is located just 14 miles from downtown Atlanta. Two major interstate highways that border the City, I-285 to the north and I-85 to the southeast, provide easy roadway access to and from the City. For commuters, the roadway access is complimented by a MARTA (Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority) rail station and several MARTA bus stops throughout the City. The City is also home to DeKalb Peachtree Airport (PDK), which is the second busiest airport in the State.
Metro Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority
The Metro Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) offers bus service and rapid rail transportation throughout DeKalb and Fulton counties. The Chamblee MARTA station serves the Chamblee area and provides a direct route to downtown Atlanta and Hartsfield Atlanta International Airport. The current MARTA one-way fare is $2.50, which permits a continuous one-way trip regardless of distance or transfers. Trains operate weekdays from 4:45 am to 1:00 am and weekends from 6:00 am to 1:00 am.
DeKalb Peachtree Airport
DeKalb Peachtree Airport (PDK) is classified as a "general aviation reliever airport" for the Atlanta metropolitan area. It encompasses approximately 700 acres of land in the northern part of DeKalb County, the majority of which is within the Chamblee city limits. The second busiest airport in the State of Georgia, PDK's location, less than ten miles from downtown Atlanta, makes it the airport of choice for those operators of corporate, business, and general aviation aircraft visiting the Atlanta area. The airport provides a wide array of aeronautic services, charter flights, and rental car options.
