May is Garden for Wildlife Month

During May, the Chamblee Public Works Department is helping to celebrate Garden for Wildlife month as part of our commitment to our National Wildlife Federation (NWF) Community Wildlife Habitat and our Mayor’s Monarch Pledge by giving away free swamp milkweed (Asclepias incarnata) plants to Chamblee residents for their pollinator gardens. This milkweed species is native to Georgia, easy to grow and was grown pesticide-free. As many know, milkweed is the only species that can host caterpillars of our imperiled monarch butterfly. Contact lconway@chambleega.gov to pick up your free milkweed plants.

Residents can also help Chamblee maintain its habitat certification by certifying their wildlife garden with several special offers from the NWF. Receive 20% off when purchasing any Certified Wildlife Habitat® sign available online only May 1 to May 31, 2024. If you have already certified your garden, you are still eligible to certify a new habitat for this promotion! Promo code: GARDEN20
